Finally found a great place for my family. Everyone is so nice and my kids are so comfortable here. Tracy went above and beyond for my autistic son to help With his anxiety and he sat perfectly and peacefully getting his teeth cleaned. 100% recommend this place.

USE CAUTION! It has taken me quite awhile to compose this review as I don't like doing them. But I feel it's important. After attending this dental office for some time for cleanings with Hygienist, Jody (wonderful), my last exam with Dr. Shannon revealed two small cavities. I had one filled at one appointment and returned later to do the second filling which was located on the opposite side. We discussed removing a molar which I was already aware of. She added quite nonchalantly that there were actually THREE teeth back there (all in a row) that should come out. I was gobsmacked! After suggesting I schedule something soon, we discussed my options, ie: implants vs a partial. I was encouraged to consider implants (more expensive). She then proceeded to prepare for the filling by inserting dams on both sides of my mouth (I have TMJ which she was aware of). The procedure took approximately half an hour to 40 minutes. Before I departed, she reiterated her concern regarding the three potential extractions and encouraged me to make an apointment ASAP. As the afternoon wore on and the local anesthetic was subsiding, I began experiencing quite a bit of jaw pain on that side. I was only able to open my mouth about half an inch, just enough to sip fluids and slide in some baby food. Long story short, I called their office and explained the problem. I returned to Dr. Shannon for a recheck and I suggested the possibility of a dislocated jaw which she rejected. As well, she vehemently disagreed with the idea that my issue was the result of the procedure she had performed, and insisted, instead, that it was probably due to my TMJ. She also advised that she was less concerned about my jaw and more concerned about extracting those three teeth. This was my first red flag. She referred me to a specialist (lovely) in Markham who diagnosed my condition as a "trismuss" which CAN be caused by TMJ as well as other things. HOWEVER, without actually committing herself, the specialist loosely intimated that it was likely due to the dams placed in my mouth and the amount of time my mouth had remained open during the filling. She was perplexed as to why dams were used at all (I'm 68), explaining that these are reserved for children who are unable to keep their mouths open. The specialist gave me stretches to do which have helped tremendously. This occurred in August, 2024, but I am still not able to open my mouth completely. I continue doing the stretches. I returned to the Smile Centre for another recheck. My jaw was coming along and I was able to open it a little bit more. Dr. Shannon advised me to continue with the stretches. Once again, before leaving the exam room, she stated that she wasn't that concerned about the trismuss and was more concerned about those three potential extractions, once again encouraging me to schedule an appointment to have them out. My second red flag. I decided to seek a second opinion regarding the three teeth recommended for extraction by Dr. Shannon. I was advised that only one was a candidate (the one I had already known about), but that it was NOT urgent and that he other two were fine! After a great deal of review-reading and speaking with friends, I am happy to say that I found a new dentist who is fabulous! I am just so grateful that I listened to my gut and did NOT move forward with Dr Shannon's "recommendation" to remove three teeth unnecessarily! As we all know, extractions are traumatic! Use caution when going to this practice. I believe there is a hidden agenda amidst! 😲

I've been going to this office since 2021. They are consistently good at explaining what's happening, what needs to be done, and working out how to pay if you don't have insurance or your insurance won't pay for everything. They are very gentle, and will accommodate any sensitivity to dental care to the best of their abilities.
